The Soul of the Object
Elevate your bathroom with this stunning example of traditional Moroccan craftsmanship. Hailing from the historic city of Fes, renowned for its exquisite pottery, this vessel-style sink is a functional work of art. Each piece is individually hand-thrown on a potter's wheel from local clay, providing a unique, organic shape that sits proudly above your counter. The sink's design is a testament to centuries-old techniques, bringing a touch of North African elegance to any modern or bohemian home.
The sink's surface is a canvas for the artisan's brush, adorned with a mesmerizing monochrome pattern in a rich, deep burgundy hue against a creamy off-white background. The exterior features two distinct bands: an upper register of repeating scale or teardrop motifs dotted for texture, and a lower band of intricate geometric diamond patterns. Inside, the basin reveals a breathtaking central floral medallion that radiates outwards, encircled by a border that echoes the exterior's geometric design. The rim is finished with a continuation of the delicate scale pattern.
Created by master potters, the process involves multiple stages of meticulous work. After shaping and sun-drying, the intricate patterns are painted freehand using traditional brushes and natural mineral pigments. A clear, protective glaze is then applied before the piece is fired in a kiln, ensuring durability and a lustrous finish that will withstand daily use. As a handcrafted item, slight variations in color and pattern are natural, making your sink truly one-of-a-kind.
"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
