The Narrative

The Soul of the Object

This magnificent oval tabletop is a masterwork of Moroccan Zellige, transforming functional furniture into high art. The design is anchored by a radiating central starburst in mustard gold and azure, expanding into an intricate galaxy of smaller geometric constellations in deep reds, emerald greens, and varying shades of blue. The complex pattern is contained within a classic blue and white checkered border, emphasizing its elegant, elongated curvature. The glazed surface catches the light, making the vibrant natural pigments sing. Handcrafted in the ancient medina of Fez, this piece represents weeks of meticulous labor by a master artisan, or 'maâlem'. The process begins with raw clay tiles, glazed and fired in traditional kilns. The maâlem then hand-chisels each individual tiny piece—known as a 'furmah'—using a sharp hammer, a technique requiring incredible precision and patience. These thousands of tesserae are laid upside down in a negative mold solely from memory, before being bound together with cement and plaster. More than just a table surface, the 'Amira' is a durable piece of cultural heritage suitable for both indoor dining and outdoor patio settings. Its substantial weight and weatherproof materials ensure longevity, while its breathtaking design serves as a permanent centerpiece, bringing the soulful geometry of the Maghreb into your home.

"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
