The Soul of the Object
This exceptional ceramic vessel is a testament to the master potters of Fez, Morocco. Standing as a piece of functional architecture, it immediately captures the eye with its unusual and daring design featuring two distinct sets of handles: three graceful loops on one side balanced by three bold, rectangular blocks on the other. This asymmetrical arrangement transforms a traditional form into a sculptural statement piece.
The vase's surface is a canvas for intricate, hand-painted arabesque and geometric patterns, a hallmark of Fassi artistry. A vibrant turquoise glaze provides the backdrop, against which striking black outlines define complex motifs filled with warm ochre and deep brown tones. The patterns draw inspiration from ancient Islamic art and the architectural details of Moroccan palaces, creating a sense of history and depth.
Handcrafted using time-honored techniques, the vase is first thrown on a potter's wheel from local clay. The handles are meticulously attached by hand before the piece undergoes its first firing. The master artisan then painstakingly applies the elaborate designs using natural pigments before a final glazing and second firing, resulting in a brilliant, durable finish. This vase is not just a decorative object but a piece of Moroccan cultural heritage, perfect for adding an exotic and sophisticated touch to any interior.
"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
