The Narrative

The Soul of the Object

This magnificent lidded tureen is a masterwork of Fassi craftsmanship, hailing from the historic metalworking souks of Fez. Hand-wrought from substantial brass and heavily plated in silver, it is a true statement piece that embodies the opulent aesthetic of Moroccan royal courts. The entire surface is a canvas for the artisan's skill, covered in dense, hand-chased geometric and floral arabesques that shimmer with every catch of light.

The metalwork is brilliantly brought to life by the application of vibrant enamel in classic Moorish hues of deep cobalt blue, rich ruby red, and creamy white. These colors are laid into the engraved patterns in a technique reminiscent of cloisonné, creating a dazzling mosaic effect. Further elevating its preciousness are numerous cabochon-cut, carnelian-style stones set into raised bezels across the lid and body, adding a warm, jewel-like glow.

Resting on a graceful pedestal base and flanked by two sturdy, curved handles, this tureen is as functional as it is decorative. It is designed to be the centerpiece of a celebratory table, perhaps holding a traditional Harira soup during Ramadan, or simply to stand as a breathtaking object of art in a refined living space. It is a tangible piece of Moroccan heritage, carrying the soul of the maalem (master craftsman) who created it.

"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
