The Narrative

The Soul of the Object

This magnificent decorative charger is a testament to the master metalworkers of Morocco. Handcrafted from substantial brass, it features a stunning interplay of finishes: highly polished, raised golden relief work contrasts beautifully against a muted, oxidized grey-silver background and deep black accents within the central medallion. The design is a complex, radiating arabesque pattern, spiraling outwards from a central geometric rosette into stylized floral motifs and interlocking arches along the rim, all framed by a delicate beaded edge. Created using the time-honored techniques of repoussé and chasing, the artisan painstakingly hammers the design from the reverse side to raise the pattern, then refines the details from the front with fine chisels. This level of intricacy requires immense skill and patience, representing weeks of dedicated labor in the souks of Fez, a city renowned for its historical metal craftsmanship. More than just a platter, the Zahra Charger is a piece of functional art. While it can serve as a grand centerpiece for festive occasions, its detailed relief work makes it ideal as a striking wall hanging, instantly adding a touch of Moorish opulence and historical depth to any interior space.

"Every imperfection tells a story of human hands at work."
